is a film and music installation in the lobby of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas filled with non-sequitur wintery animated scenes.



Making Little Winter



When we first discussed the music for the project, YONDER director Mark Bashore and I went with the idea of an intimate music box

approach: small sounds, almost clockwork-like to reference the diorama setting, the cute railroad figurines and how the scenes would

contain little repeating patterns of movement:

What we came up with is much more engaging. While we kept the smaller, twinkling intimate sounds, I went BIG: french horn swells,

Bavarian waltz beats, huge church bell carillons, epic operatic singing, percussive string plucking, etc. This approach not only cuts

through the busy hotel lobby environment to grab people's attention, but the goal with this music is to bring to life the scenes in the

diorama. I wanted to the viewer to be pulled into the scenes with a more action-based score:
